Combination therapy: Could be combined with aztreonam, fosfomycin, gentamicin or levofloxacin for empiric therapy

Mechanism of Action/Target pathogen: Cephalosporin that has improved activity against strains producing β-lactamases. Against 112 strains of MRSA, MIC-90 was 2.0mcg/ml; inhibits cell wall synthesis; active against a broad spectrum of Gram positive bacteria including MRSA

Reason dropped: This was to be developed as an anti-MRSA Cephalosporin [as its prodrug]. May have been dropped in favor of ceftobiprole which J&J were also developing at the same time (LS)
