Mechanism of Action/Target pathogen: Binds to bacterial penicillin-binding proteins (PBP) and interferes with bacterial cell wall integrity and synthesis. Active against Gram-positive bacteria and against many Enterobacteriaceae but vulnerable to extended-spectum beta-lactamases (ESBL)
