Mechanism of Action/Target pathogen: Inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. Active against Gram-positive (incl. Mycobacterium tuberculosis) and Gram-negative bacteria, especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Additional information: Semisynthetic, derived from kanamycin. Veterinary use, human use as parenterial and inhaled formulation (for Mycobacterium avium complex lung disease)
